ICMS 2019 took place between 9th and 12th of May in Medical University of Sofia.
ICMS in numbers: 627 participants, 180 approved abstracts 36 workshops, participants from more than 40 countries (amongst which are USA, Japan and Mexico), most participants being in their 4th year of studies.
The participants in ICMS 2019 represented 45 different institutions and medical universities.
The 180 abstracts were distributed in four different fields of study: preclinical, therapy, surgery and public health. Every participant could choose to present his work as a poster or an oral presentation.
The winners in the two categories are as follows: Poster Presentation – Petra Popovich, University of Nis, C-kit and neurofilament-m immunoreactivity in rat colon with diabetes mellitus; Oral Presentation – Olha Marschichak, Lviv National Medical University, Development of the web-service model for the evidence-based pharmaceutical care support.
The guest lecturers were:
Prof. Thamara Perera (Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham) – Pushing the boundaries of liver transplantation with normothermic machine perfusion,
Prof. Nam Cho (President of International Diabetes Federation) – Global challenges and opportunities in Diabetes prevention and control,
Prof. Federico Calegari (Center of regenerative therapies, Dresden) – Giving the brain more neurons,
Prof. Eliane Piaggio (Curie award 2017) – Immunotherapy of cancer.
36 workshops took part in all the university hospitals of Medical University Sofia.
For the first time ICMS had a simulation room in which the participants were able to perform procedures on different simulators. Furthermore 20 different teams took part in the second edition of Ace the Case, held in Literature club “Peroto”.
