Marius Ader is a leading researcher in the field of regenerative ophthalmology and Professor of “Cell Replacement in the Retina” at Technische Universität Dresden, affiliated with the CRTD – Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden. His work focuses on the development of stem cell–based therapies for vision restoration in degenerative diseases such as Age-related macular degeneration and Retinitis pigmentosa. His team develops retinal organoids and retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells and has demonstrated structural and functional integration of transplanted photoreceptors in preclinical models. His research lays the groundwork for the clinical translation of combined cell-based therapies aimed at restoring retinal function and vision.
